The Friends of Horsmonden Primary School (FoHPS) has thriving, energetic and wonderful in bringing parents and the school together for the good of the children.

Special events

Both adults and children benefit from the efforts of The Friends. Adults have recently enjoyed a Curry and Bingo Night and Barn Dance, whilst children have had their own version of Bangers and Bingo.

The big event of the year will soon be upon us with the School Fete. This year we have a magical theme for children and adults to join in with in a day that promises to live up to its reputation of being a great annual village event.

School Uniform

This is a service we provide carrying stock of all the items and sell them on at cost. We also sell good quality items of second hand uniform. Both of these services are looked after by Zoe Ferguson.

Refreshments at new parents evenings or similar events.

Fund Raising

In April and May 2009, the Friends Association paid for 11 sail shades to be fitted in the school grounds to ameliorate the look of the building as well as provide shade for the children on hot days. They also funded the re-roofing of the swimming pool changing rooms and the re-covering of the swimming pool dome to ensure a trouble-free swimming season for children this summer term. During summer and autumn 2009, the Reception and Year 1 activity areas were completely refurbished thanks once again to FoHPS funding.

In the Summer of 2010, the Friends have purchased new wallbars for the school hall along with a further £2,500 worth of gymnastics and sports equipment.

Events

We arrange events for children and adults. In the last year we’ve organised Quiz & Fizz for the junior children and Bingo & Bangers for the whole school including supper. For the adults, our most recent event was a highly successful fashion show and sale.

Our biggest event of the year is the school fete, which this year (June 2010) raised a whopping £4,400 as well as providing the school and village community with an excellent day out.
